Since completing my Masters by Research, I’ve taken a leap into the world of assistive technology by creating “Power 2 Assistive Tech.” This initiative is all about providing specialist sessions that cater to individuals needing support through technology. It’s been an exciting journey, blending my academic knowledge with practical applications to empower users. My aim is to demystify assistive tech and make it accessible to everyone, whether they’re students, professionals, or simply looking for ways to enhance their daily lives. The feedback has been fantastic, and it’s rewarding to see the positive impact of tailored tech solutions in action see below Stephanie’s case study.
Power2AssistiveTech have recently completed a consultancy project to develop a report for a SMART flat and Assistive Technology provision in both the residential services and day college provision. Stephanie’s case study
I started working with Stephanie in 2018 when I was employed by Norwood as Assistive Technology Specialist for Communication and Environmental Control. When I started Stephanie was not motivated to use her eye gaze device she has funded through the NHS. I soon identified Stephanie had a passion for art but was unable to do this independently physically. So I then started to explore how Stephanie could do artwork on her eye gaze and programmed a Grid 3 grid with inbuilt computer controls so she could use her eyes as a mouse to paint. When we started Stephanie was telling me what colour she wanted which I was selecting and then Stephanie would paint as shown in “Extraordinary lives of Stephanie and Joe”

- Travel £20 (if session is not in 5 mile radius of other clients)

Additional services such as editing, meeting attendance are charged as extra.
